Students will learn how to design, layout, measure, assemble and prepare gem settings in wax and build successful models for different types of jewelry. The class will allow students to work at their own pace to achieve castable model(s) based on their individual abilities and interests.
The wax modeling class will guide students in how to find inspiration, to design and layout as well as demonstrating various carving, shaping, build-up and other techniques for creating jewelry using the “lost wax” process with various waxes and tools used to create models. The models can be used to produce faithful cast copies of students models in precious metal (silver or gold other alternative metals).
The class also includes casting labor and flask set-up and burnout for up to 2 models (metal weight: under 20 grams each or one up to 40 grams).
All student levels are welcome: new beginner to advanced
