Description

Thursdays
November 5, 10, & 19, 2020
6:00 – 7:30

$25.00 each class

These three classes are taught by three local artists who share their personal style in creating collages. Via Zoom

Collage is a work of art, an artistic composition created from a range of materials or objects not normally associated with one another. It is an assemblage or occurrence of diverse elements or fragments in unlikely or unexpected juxtaposition using such materials as paper, cloth, wood, painted forms, or even 3-dimensional objects.

November 5
Small-Scale with Cassandra Parks: In this workshop Cassandra will lead you through creating three small 4″x6″ collages. The imagery may continue one on to the next to tell one narrative, or you can create three individual stories. Discussions around how juxtaposing images can create new meanings, and how to communicate feelings and ideas by bringing together found images will take place.

November 12
Optical Illusions with Sonny Kay
: Low Key Arts’ Executive Director Sonny Kay leads this fun workshop dedicated to the art of cut-and-paste collage. Sonny will introduce various forms of traditional collage as well as discuss his own experiments in digital media before turning attendees loose!

November 19
Open Expressionistic Narrative Collage with Ephemera with Jeri Hillis:
This evening workshop will result in an artwork of expressionistic narrative collage with open space often referred to as negative space, where the white of the paper exists for positive reinforcement of the artwork/ image. Through the process of cutting, tearing, pasting and assembling of paper along with the use of ephemera (old letters, postcards, stamps, book pages), a work on paper with a visual story will
emerge.

All materials will be provided, and we encourage you to bring your own ephemera (stamps, letters, book pages, photographs), personal drawings, scientific illustrations, painted papers, etc.

After payment is received, we will send you a zoom link via email. Kits will be ready for pickup prior to class. Please contact us to make arrangements: erin@emergentarts.org 501-655-0836

Adults, 6:00-7:30, $25.00 per class
