Broomstick lace is a beautiful crochet technique that looks complicated, but it’s much easier than you think! All you need are basic crochet skills (chain and single crochet) and a willingness to learn!
In this course, students will learn the basics of how to make broomstick lace and achieve different effects, and will begin a broomstick lace scarf. They will also receive tips for which colors and weights of yarns work best with this technique, and advanced students can explore how to make more complex shapes, like shawls or garments.
Please note: Emergent Arts has art kits with the proper weight of yarn and crochet hook for the class. Those are available for $10 each*. If you would like to purchase supplies on your own, or if you happen to have supplies already, you’ll need: G sized crochet hook, a 25 mm knitting needle or dowel, and a skein of light to medium weight yarn. Solid colors are recommended, no specialty yarns. Email kara@emergentarts.org
