Join us for Homeschool Friday December as we learn about icons. This session will take place on Friday December 11th from 10:00am – 11:30am.
In religious and art history we often see saints and important figures depicted in a unique style known as Icons. The existence of Icon paintings date back to early Christianity and are identified by a round halo behind the head of the painting’s subject. Particularly in Russian art history, Icon paintings are very elaborate and are adorned with real gold, silver, and gems.
In this workshop, students will be creating their own interpretation of an icon using their likeness as the subject! Our process will include painting, collage, and embellishing our Icon with “gems”.
Parents, please email a photo of your child to erin@emergentarts.org prior to the workshop so we can print it out for the collage. Please register for this session HERE!
